The Paya Lebar MRT Station (EW8/CC9)
Posted On at by raj
Location
Paya Lebar station is located near next to the Singapore Post centre. Due to its proximity to the centre, many of the employees there commute by train. It is just south of the urban planning area and town it serves, Paya Lebar. The station also serves the Geylang Serai district, the popular Geylang Serai Hawker centre, and the Malay Village. Therefore, it usually gets crowded during the Hari Raya period, as Muslims and other visitors flock to the festival bazaar.
Circle Line
There is extensive construction going on outside the station with the building of the Circle Line's station of the same name. As a result, congestion usually occurs on the roads outside the station during the evening peak hours. However, these works are into their final phase, and relief from the heavy traffic is expected soon.

Bedok MRT Station (EW5)
Posted On at by rajLocation
Bedok MRT Station is one of two stations on the eastern arm of the East West Line that lies directly in the middle of a road. It is in the center of New Upper Changi Road, and separates the dual carriageway road in the middle. Underpasses connect the station to both sides of the road (as opposed to overhead bridges on the western part). The station is a short walk away from the Bedok Bus Interchange via a widely used covered linkway. From Wiki
Tanah Merah MRT Station (EW4)
Posted On at by rajThe station is part of the East West Line and is between Simei and Bedok and is an interchange for trains going to Changi Airport and Expo. Trains going to these two stations utilise the middle platform.
The station's design is whitewashed walls and a dome-shaped ceiling, with a glass roof running along the middle of the station. It was originally not going to be open with the rest of the East West Line in 1990 as there were only private houses surrounding it, but increasing pressure from Members of Parliament and the public forced SMRT to open this station. This case mirrors the controversy on Buangkok station about more than a decade later.
The station is the only MRT interchange station to have only one alphanumeric symbol (as opposed to other interchange stations, which have at least two). The station is also the only interchange station not to be part of two or more lines (due to it being an interchange between the main East West Line and the Changi Airport Extension of the line).

Changi Airport MRT Station (CG2)
Posted On at by rajChangi Airport MRT Station (CG2) was opened on 8 February 2002 as one of the terminal Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations for the East West Line, and located in between Singapore Changi Airport's Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. It is currently the only MRT Station in Singapore to have both fare gates and the platforms on the same level. There are two other stations that have fare gates on the same level as the platform: Landmark Station in 2013 and Sentosa Station of Sentosa Express on 15 January 2007.Changi Airport had been operating since its opening in 1981 with no rail link and with full reliance on taxi and bus connections, proven effective given the short 20 kilometre distance to the city via the East Coast Parkway and their relative affordability. Public buses also provide cheap express trips to the city, and link commuters to the MRT network at Bedok, Tampines and Pasir Ris. There was thus no pressing need to build the rail line despite regional competition, and was only given the green light when the Singapore Expo was built along the line and helping to add potential traffic.
Since the station's opening, passenger traffic has been moderate, as most bus routes were maintained and continue to be a popular means of cheap, direct transport for local airport/airline employees, as well as travelers not living along the East West Line. Many air travellers also prefer to continue taking taxis or private transport as the MRT service does not provide for convenient luggage storage beyond Tanah Merah MRT Station, and they have to contend with the commuting crowd especially during peak hours. Thus primary users of the station are usually confined to airport/airline employees, leisure visitors, well-wishers, and budget air travellers, in particular backpackers. Most passengers on weekends used the station merely as a transfer point from the Expo to the bus terminal.
Bus services
Bus services to the city centre and to other parts of Singapore are available at the nearby Changi Airport PTB 1, 2 & 3 Bus Terminal located at the basement levels of three Terminals 1, 2 & 3.

The National Flag of Singapore
Posted On at by rajThe National Flag of Singapore The national flag is Singapore's most visible symbol of statehood, symbolising our sovereignty, pride and honour. It reflects the ideals, beliefs and values that we stand by as a nation amidst our rich and diverse make-up. It forms a crucial element of our national identity. As such, the national flag is to be treated with dignity and honour. Its OriginThe national flag was unveiled on 3 December 1959, together with the state crest and the national anthem, at the installation of the new Head of State, the Yang di-Pertuan Negara. It was created by a Committee led by then Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Toh Chin Chye. It replaced the Union Jack, which had flown over Singapore for 140 years (1819-1959).
Upon Singapore's independence in 1965, it was adopted as Singapore's national flag. Its MeaningThe flag consists of two equal horizontal sections, red above white. In the upper left section are a white crescent moon, and five white stars forming a circle. Each feature of the flag has its own distinctive meaning and significance. Red symbolises universal brotherhood and equality of man. White signifies pervading and everlasting purity and virtue. The crescent moon represents a young nation on the ascendant. The five stars stand for the nation's ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.
