Aljunied is a sub-urban area located in the eastern part of the city-state of Singapore. Named after Aljunied Road, it was formally agricultural land which has since been heavily urbanised and presently comprises a variety of landuses.
Today, Aljunied is a bustling neighbourhood with HDB flats with amenities like shops, schools, parks and recreational facilities.

The Paya Lebar MRT Station (EW8/CC9)
Posted On at by rajThe Paya Lebar MRT Station (EW8/CC9) is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the East West Line and on the future Circle Line in Singapore.

Location
Paya Lebar station is located near next to the Singapore Post centre. Due to its proximity to the centre, many of the employees there commute by train. It is just south of the urban planning area and town it serves, Paya Lebar. The station also serves the Geylang Serai district, the popular Geylang Serai Hawker centre, and the Malay Village. Therefore, it usually gets crowded during the Hari Raya period, as Muslims and other visitors flock to the festival bazaar.
Circle Line
There is extensive construction going on outside the station with the building of the Circle Line's station of the same name. As a result, congestion usually occurs on the roads outside the station during the evening peak hours. However, these works are into their final phase, and relief from the heavy traffic is expected soon.
